July 4th is just around the corner; you know what that means- America’s 243rd birthday is almost here! Have a very cheery 4th of July this summer in New York City while celebrating America’s Independence with friends and families, cookouts, cruises, beaches, rooftop parties and fireworks. Check out what you can find in NYC to complete your festive day full of red, white, and blue.
Fireworks, a July 4th Classic
The Fourth of July would not be complete without a grand fireworks show. Every year in New York City, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are a must-see light show above the city. This year, the show will return to the Brooklyn Bridge with three times more pyrotechnic effects spanning along the entire bridge and also launched from four barges along Pier 17.

The pyrotechnic spectacular will highlight classic American Cinema with a fan-favorite film score including classics such as Star Wars, ET or Superman. To watch the show, choose anywhere in Brooklyn Heights or DUMBO, or Downtown Manhattan.

Take the festivities to the beach at one of many hosted Fourth of July beach party events. Bring your friends and family over to Coney Island for a day and night long spirited event. If you can stomach it, come out for the annual Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, and stay for the 4th of July Firework Spectacular to watch the light show from the Coney Island Boardwalk.

Riis Park Beach Bazaar, on Rockaway Beach, is also an option, where you will find a great selection of food, live music and shopping. Spend your Fourth at Jacob Riis National Park for a sunny day of drinking, music, and fun with friends.
Go for a morning waterfront bike ride, then spend the afternoon with friends and family by having a pot-luck styled picnic in Central Park.

Many people decide to hit up a rooftop bar on Fourth of July night for the most unobstructed views of the fireworks show, and many rooftop bars throughout the city host exclusive, ticket-only, open-bar and endless party events to host the greatest Fourth of July party. Enjoy a fun and festive evening at the 230 Fifth, New York’s largest outdoor Rooftop Garden, or hit up the Fourth of July Rooftop Party at the PHD Lounge at the Dream Downtown for incredible views, signature cocktails, and lively DJ’s.
