Itinerary: Oscar and the City

The 86th Academy Awards are coming up next week! In the history of American cinema, many motion pictures have taken place in the Big Apple. Here are a few of our favorite Oscar-winning movies and the spots that co-stared with Hollywood’s best, from Audrey Hepburn to Leonardo DiCaprio. A fun way to (re)discover the city!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Walk down Fifth Avenue on an early morning; don’t forget to buy a donut from the street vendors! Shades and hat are optional, although highly recommended. For a more substantial breakfast, head to the Palm Court at the Plaza HotelOh, golly gee damn!

 Midnight Cowboy (1969)

Slalom between the Yellow Cabs in Times Square screaming, “I’m walking here! I’m walking here!”. Recover from the emotional trauma with a rich, creamy chocolate milkshake and a Blue Suede Burger at Ellen’s Stardust Diner.

The Godfather (1972)

Dodge imaginary bullets on Mulberry Street, and go to the mattresses with your diet with the diabolically delicious cannoli from Ferrara’s Café.

 The Wiz (1978)

Ease on Down the Road in Harlem for an adventure north of 125th Street. No Yellow Brick Road in real life, but a history that will give you courage and music that will grease up your tin armor! Come along, we’re taking you on an adventure!

Moonstruck (1987)

Surprise your lover on the stairs of the Lincoln Center esplanade. Feeling a little tired after the Opera? Snap out of it! Time for a grandiose traditional Italian meal at the nearby Café Fiorello!

Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Although this movie has not yet won any Oscars, it has received nominations in four categories, including Best Director for Martin Scorsese. Walk down Nassau Street near the New York Stock Exchange, and head to the Standard Hotel – Le Bain for a brunch on top of the World!
